Our kids grow up so quickly and before you know it, they’ve finished school and leaving home. I believe every parent should have photos that freeze the uniqueness of their family at this moment (and every child should have photos with you in them, too!) I want to help you create not only beautiful images of your tribe but an amazing family bonding experience that you will cherish as much as your photos.

BEHIND THE LENS
Sunshine Coast photographer Lou O’Brien specialises in natural light, outdoor photography of families – especially on the beach! Lou worked for many years as a press photographer for Sunshine Coast Daily Newspapers, and this is where she honed her craft of not only photography but her communication & people skills.
Lou’s passion for photography comes through in her energetic, “all-in” approach to each session. Don’t be surprised if you see her pushing the limits to get just the right shot – whether chasing toddlers along the sand, lying down in the dirt for a new perspective, or making funny sounds just to get that smile.
Hi, I’m Lou
Family is everything to me. They’re my favourite people to hang out with. When I’m not trying to beat my husband in the latest board game we’re playing, you will find me watching movies with my film-obsessed son, or getting creative on the next art project with my daughter or taking my furbaby Kiki out for a bike ride. I love watching how our relationships have evolved over the years and I cherish every moment.
This is why I’m passionate about wanting to document the real beauty and joy of your family. I’ll gently guide your family into moments that are not only flattering, but also tell your family’s unique story. I make sure to get that one ‘perfect’ snap of everyone looking at the camera (because let’s face it, Granma wants this one), and then we’ll have some fun creating the perfectly ‘imperfect’ photos through suggested interactions. This can be giving hugs, kisses, walking towards the camera or sometimes just chasing the kids around! These are specifically designed to help your family feel more comfortable in front of the camera while I focus on the natural light and how it will create beautiful flattering photos.
My family photography session is for everyone in your family, this includes pets too. I can’t wait to meet you and make some images to celebrate YOUR family’s life!

I know how stressful it can feel preparing for family photos. Between getting your partner and kids onboard with the idea, deciding what everyone will wear, and picking a date that works with the family calendar, there is enough stress to make us throw in the towel. But don’t give up! You are the hero of this story because you are giving your family these visual memories of your amazing life together & I have some helpful tips to help you prepare. Pregnancy $297
Pregnancy photoshoots are quick, easy & fun. I know not all new mothers feel amazing during pregnancy, but one thing I do know, is you want to be able to capture this moment to share with your new child in years to come. Pregnancy photography sessions take place on location in the Caloundra area on the Sunshine Coast only. Between the stunning beaches, & beautiful bushland, we are sure to find the perfect location for your preganacy shoot!
· Personal Pre-shoot consultation – let’s chat and make this a great experience for you. We’ll work out the best location for your pregnancy photos & I’ll offer ‘what to wear’ advice as well as ‘how to prepare for your photos’.
· A fun, compact 30 minute photography session, on location in the Caloundra area.
· The photography session can be just for mum, or include your partner and immediate family.
· Private Online Gallery for you to share with family & friends.
· 5 Edited digital files for download – you choose your favourite 5 photos, additional charge for extras.
+ $100 (Sat-Sun sessions)
Newborn $697
My lifetsyle newborn photography sessions take place in your home, capturing those precious early moments as a family. I recommend these photography sessions take place in the first two weeks of baby’s life, so make sure you book in once you have your due date. Newborn sessions can take place within 45 minutes of Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.
· Personal Pre-shoot consultation – let’s chat and make this a great experience for you. We’ll work out the best location for your family & I’ll offer ‘what to wear’ advice as well as ‘how to prepare for your newborn photos’.
· 1 hour photography session, on location at your house on the Sunshine Coast.
· The photography session can be just for bub, or any immediate members of your family (including grandparents & pets).
· Private Online Gallery for you to share with family & friends – live for four weeks.
· Unlimited edited digital files for you to download.
+ $100 (Sat-Sun sessions)
Bump2Bub $897
My Bump2Bub package is the combination of both the Pregnancy & Newborn packages.
· Personal Pre-shoot consultation – let’s chat and make this a great experience for you. We’ll work out the best location for your pregnancy photos & I’ll offer ‘what to wear’ advice as well as ‘how to prepare for your photos’.
· A fun, compact 30 minute pregnancy photography session, on location in the Caloundra area.
· 1 hour photography session, on location at your house on the Sunshine Coast.
· The photography session can be just for bub, or any immediate members of your family (including grandparents & pets).
· Private Online Gallery for you to share with family & friends – live for four weeks.
· Unlimited edited digital files of both pregnancy & newborn photoshoots, for you to download.
· Saving of over $100.

The Details
What to expect when booking your family photography session with images by Lou O’Brien.
Step 1.
Get in touch!
Book in your family photography session. Contact me to find out which session is best for you. A $100 non-refundable booking fee is due to hold your day & time. The balance is due on the day.
Step 2.
Let’s get planning!
Yay! You’ve booked your family photography package with me. I will email you a guide that will help you prepare for your family photoshoot. It will include ideas on what to wear as well as helpful hints & tips on how to get your family ready & excited for your awesome shoot.
Step 3.
The day before
I find the more prepared you are before your photoshoot, the less stressful it will be for you on the day. Make sure all of your clothes are ironed & on hangers & your accessories are ready to go. It’s important to have an early night too, so you’re full of energy for the next day.
Step 4.
Shoot Day!
Get ready to make some memories! You’ll want to make sure everyone is fed and comfortable in what they are wearing, as I find this is the biggest obstacle on the day. Make sure you arrive to our agreed location at least 15 minutes or so beforehand to ensure you won’t feel rushed & flustered. Now it’s time to make some magic. Remember, we are capturing your family at this stage in their lives, we are after those ‘imperfect’ perfect moments. Your photography session is not just about remembering “this time of life,” but these specific memories — these particular toddler snuggles, this special embrace, the way your family interacts right now.
Step 5.
Your Photos.
Woohoo! It’s time to view your family photos! Within 2 weeks after your session, you’ll receive a link to your personal online gallery, with all of your beautifully edited images! I encourage you to make a special family night out of it and sit back and enjoy reliving your fun session! You’ll be able to download your photos straight away and share them with the world! (*Short & Sweet, once you have made your selection of your 10 favourite images and any additional images have been paid for, I will then activate the download. Good news Kindred, you get the WHOLE LOT!)

I will create a comfortable environment that allows you to feel relaxed and, in the moment, so I can capture meaningful, natural family photos that celebrate you & your family. WHY HIRE A PROFESSIONAL FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER?
Having a professional family photoshoot isn’t just about spending an hour with your photographer and having your photograph taken. It’s about the whole experience – from your initial consultation, to helping you plan what to wear, the best location and time for your photoshoot as well as bringing the energy and enthusiasm to create an amazing experience whilst capturing these once in a life-time memories.
But the most important reason I believe you should hire a professional photographer is that YOU get to be in them. Aside from a few selfies on your smartphone, it’s quite likely that you or your partner are always missing from your family photos, since one of you always has to be behind the camera. The reason I know this, is because it’s true for my family. We once took a family holiday to New Zealand, and when we arrived back home and went through our photos, I couldn’t find a single photo of me in a family photo. Remember, your kids want you in the photo.
I believe photography is an investment, but your images will be priceless.

ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL COSTS?
Both my Short & Sweet and Kindred family photography sessions are for weekdays and include up to 5 people (or immediate family) . You can choose to upgrade to a weekend session for $100 or add extended family members for $25 per person. Short & Sweet session includes 10 digital files, you can add extra images for $55 each. Please contact me for full T&C’s and further info.
WE’RE NOT FROM THE SUNSHINE COAST, CAN YOU HELP US FIND A LOCATION?
Of course! I grew up on the Sunshine Coast and I have worked here all my my life, so I know all the best locations for each season of the year.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE SICK OR CANNOT MAKE IT TO PHOTOGRAPH OUR FAMILY? OR SOMEONE IN OUR FAMILY IS SICK?
I like to stay fit and healthy, and so far, I have not missed a shoot. But, if the case should arise, you have two choices, we can reschedule or I can arrange for another professional photographer. I can guarantee you, your replacement photographer is someone I know and trust and who has proficient family photography. If someone in your family is sick, please let me know as soon as possible and we can reschedule.
ARE YOU INSURED?
I sure am! I have full public liability insurance. I also have full back-up equipment, including an extra camera body, lenses, batteries and memory cards and I back up all of your wedding photos on two extra hard drives when I return to my office after your wedding.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Oh, this is where some true magic happens. The most important thing you can do is just relax and know I’ve got your back. I have a couple of clear umbrellas so we can get some sweet rain shots. You might even have some gumboots to play around in the puddles. However, if the weather is really set in, we can reschedule to another time for that day, or another day.
DO YOU OFFER PRINTS?
Nothing makes us happier than seeing your family photos in print! I don’t personally offer a printing service, but I can highly recommend My Pro Photo lab for all of your printing needs.
HOW DO WE RECEIVE OUR IMAGES?
I deliver your collection of edited images via your own personalised online gallery. It's easy to use and share with your family & friends, no matter where they are in the world. It’s here you can download them onto your computer for safe keeping. I highly recommend My Pro Photo to get your digital images printed.
HOW DO WE CONFIRM OUR FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY BOOKING WITH YOU?
