JACARANDA TREE WEDDING

I like to think that Jacaranda Trees are Australia’s version of the Japanese Cherry Blossum, but they last longer.

Although the Jacaranda tree is native to Brazil and Argentina. The name Jacaranda comes from the Native American Tupi word “yacarana” or “yacaranda” which the Portuguese spelled with a j, the spelling Australia adopted as well.

There are many species of Jacaranda & they come in a range of other colour flowers, the tree common to South East Queensland and what most people know of is Jacaranda Mimosifolia — the Purple (or Blue) Jacaranda.

The trees blossum for up to two months, starting in late Spring and going into early Summer. In October, Gympie’s streetscape is awash in a stunning purple hue. Jacarandas are dotted all over the regional landscape and bring the historical town to life. When the flowers fall and float down from the trees it creates the most beautiful purple carpet.
